One race blunder!!!

Daily result: £23.15 (revised)

After seeing no changes in the markets after the introduction of the S.P.'s I was happy to increase the amounts I am using. I thought things were going the same was as they have in the past when I have increased the amounts I use i.e. have a losing day! I got off to an okay start with a small profit in the first race, however, I then made a very stupid error and paid the price for it. I basically left it too late to cancel a bet got matched then the price shot away from me. I had been facing an £8 loss on the race - got it down to £5 and then made the error and ended up losing £14.22 on the race. I was mad with myself and gave myself a few hits to wake me up to what I was doing - I think I need to do what Gordon Ramsey did in a recent show and install a punch bag in my room so I can take my frustration out on that rather than myself :-). I had my usual thoughts of why do I bother with this, I should stop for the day etc etc. A quick break and a think normally sorts my mind set out and I realise it was only one race, one stupid mistake and it is easily retrievable over the day if I stick to what I know I should be doing.

The next two races were break even races and exactly what I needed to get me back on track. The next race I made a tenner so was near break even again for the day and then won on six of the next six races to get things back on track somewhat for the day. I made a few other errors through the day which cost me some profits and these largely revolve around the fact that now I am using larger amounts I am getting part filled on orders/getting filled in full but slowly and I am waiting until I am fully filled before putting in the counter trade which often means joining the back of what has now become a large amount of money and therefore I have to turn it into a scratch trade. I need to think about this a good bit more as I think it could be costing me up to £10 a day in missed trades. In the end I traded 12 races winning on 8, breaking even on 3 and losing n just that one stupid race. Had I not made the error my afternoon profit would have been around £23 which considering a meeting was cancelled is not too bad.

On a sad note - the decision in the first race at Taunton to count the horse that planted itself at the start as a runner was a disgrace and will do racing no favours. I take my hat off to Sky Bet for refunding punters stakes. I personally made a little on the race which I wouldn't have had the horse been classed as a non-runner. I do however, have no sympathy for the people who backed the horse in-running on Betfair and there were plenty of people that did! Anyone who did back it in-running deserved to loose their money - well done to the layers who laid the horse, I wish I had bothered to stick around and lay it for free money. Time and time again you see horses that have not started the race backed in-running - why people do this I have absolutely no idea and you in my mind deserve everything you get. Rant Over!

The new update on the Betfair Interface I have to say is poor - the screen has become far to cluttered for my liking and you have to search with your eyes to see find what was once easy to find. The have done away with the refresh button on the my bets bit which I find essential. Often my bets are not appearing there for several minutes. I guess as with every other update we will get used to it but I personally dislike it.

I plan to look in on the American racing tonight and hope that it goes better than last night - I also plan to trade the evening card at Kempton. So will do a further update later.

I am now trading with £600:

1.01 - 2.00 = £600
2.02 - 3.00 = £300
3.05 - 4.00 = £200
4.10 - 6.00 = £120
6.2 - 10.00 - £60

********************
Traded the evening card at Wolverhampton and went okay - I lost on one race with a bit of a daft mistake. Pretty knackered and have been suffering a headache all day so going to keep this short. Traded 5 races, won on 3, broke even on one and lost on the other.
